The Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Karachi His Excellency Mr. Cemal Sangu and Mrs. Gülsen Sango hosted a grand reception to commemorate the 101st Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye. This grand reception was hosted on 29th October 2024 at the Turkish Consulate Compound, within the Turkish Consulate Karachi. Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye is celebrated as Republic Day on 29th October every year.
Governor Sindh, His Excellency Mr. Kamran Khan Tessori and Chief Minister Sindh, His Excellency Syed Murad Ali Shah attended this event as chief guests. Other notable attendees included Provincial Ministers Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Minister for Culture & Tourism, Syed Sardar Ali Shah Minister for Education, Mines & Minerals Development, Mr. Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar Minister for Home, Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Criminal Prosecution and Syed Awais Qadir Shah Speaker Sindh Assembly along with esteemed members of Sindh’s Provincial Assembly Mrs. Faryal Talpur & Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.
Turkish Republic Day was also well attended by the diplomatic corps present in Karachi which included Consul-Generals and Diplomatic Staff. Among other attendees were Government dignitaries, members of Armed Forces, businessmen, socialites and selected member of Press (Electronic-media, Print-media & Social-Media).
The Turkish Consul General in Karachi shared his views by saying; “we are overjoyed to celebrate our 101st anniversary of our Republic Day with enthusiasm, joy and pride”. He prayed that; “may our Republic last forever!”
A cake cutting ceremony took place on centre stage, where Chief Guests of the evening Syed Murad Ali shah Chief Minister Sindh and Mr. Kamran Khan Tessori Governor Sindh along with Consul General Türkiye in Karachi Mr. Cemal Sangu and esteemed member of Sindh’s Provincial Assembly Mrs. Faryal Talpur shared honors of cake cutting.
Fireworks erupted once the cake cutting ceremony was over and intense fireworks enthralled the guests by its captivating display.
After a very powerful display of fireworks dinner was announced and with authentic Turkish cuisines like Mezeh, Mezeh Salad, Turkish Chicken Pulao, Konza Tikka, Adana Kebabs and Quozi (lamb-stuffed with rice) reminded me of my visit to Bodurm.
